Alex Esseling is a passionate, self-taught photographer with a keen interest in landscape and wilderness photography. Born in the mid-eighties at the border to the Netherlands, he enjoyed spending time in the landscape during his youth. At the age of 20 he bought his first own digital camera – a Praktica DPix 540Z compact camera with 5 mega pixels – to capture his trips around Europe. In 2009 he made the decision to buy his first DSLR, a Canon 1000D, to document his life and trips while studying abroad in Karlstad, Sweden.
The time abroad was the starting point for his photographic journey as friends and professional photographer on trips organized by the University woken his interest in photography and especially landscape as well as wilderness photography. Since then he travelled primarily in Europe from Iceland over the Faroe Islands to Italy and beyond.
